Empowering Health and Wellness in Our Community
East Rand Palliative Care, in collaboration with Food Town Hyper, proudly offers comprehensive health and wellness services.
These services are dedicated to supporting our community members, especially those navigating life-threatening illnesses such as Cancer, HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Motor Neuron Disease, and Multiple Sclerosis, as well as individuals in the last stages of life. Our inclusive approach welcomes individuals of all ages, including teenagers dealing with cancer and life-limiting HIV.
Centres and Services:
Our wellness centres, located in Vulcania (Brakpan) and Daveyton, are open to the public on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 09h00 to 15h30. At these centres, we provide a variety of services aimed at enhancing the well-being of our community:
Regular Health Checks
These include blood pressure monitoring and diabetes/glucose testing to promote early detection and management of common health issues.
TB Screening and Support
TB screening and support together with cancer awareness programs, to educate and support our community in the fight against these diseases.
Referrals
Referrals for home-based care and community wellness initiatives, ensuring comprehensive support tailored to individual needs.
Nursing and Psychosocial Care
Delivered with the expertise and compassion characteristic of East Rand Palliative Care.
I ACT Support Groups
We offer both open and closed sessions that cover a range of topics from HIV/AIDS basics, nutrition, and self-care, to acceptance of status and treatment literacy, fostering a supportive environment for learning and sharing.
Understanding the unique challenges faced by children and caregivers affected by HIV. We run a Kidz Alive Awareness program.
Through counselling and educational play, we empower children to navigate their feelings and experiences, while our family support interventions help build caregiver confidence and enhance their ability to support the child’s emotional and physical health. Additionally, we provide training to equip caregivers with the necessary skills to effectively support and care for children living with HIV.
