East Rand Palliative Care recently had the privilege of being on the receiving end of a generous and heartfelt gesture from the Grade 1 learners at Hurlyvale Primary School. In support of our Bring-A-Thing initiative, the young learners brought along pre-loved items to be donated to our organisation. These contributions will be resold through our network of charity shops, helping us raise much-needed funds to support patients and families facing life-limiting illnesses.
In addition to their material donations, the children also shared something incredibly touching, joy-filled drawings created especially for our patients. Each colourful picture carries a simple but powerful message: you are loved, thought of, and not alone. These thoughtful creations are more than just art; they are reminders of the compassion and kindness that exists in our community. Small gestures like these can have a big emotional impact, and we know these pictures will brighten the days of those who receive them.
We are sincerely grateful to the staff, parents, and Grade 1 learners of Hurlyvale Primary School for their warmth, kindness, and support. Thank you for helping us continue our mission of providing care and comfort, and for reminding us all of the difference a caring community can make.
